sender—–message—–>reciever

receiver—feedback—->sender

Public Speaking policies

Before speaking

  • no gum food, drink, or ant fidgety thing
  • be prepared, note cards rubric, visual aids
  • keep appearance clean, neat and appealing
  • deep breaths before speaking
  • see if audience, and instructor if they are ready

Delivering speech:

  • use eye contact
  • use appropriate voice and tone do not speak too loudly or softly
  • strand up straight
  • keep hands to your side (unless gestures)
  • watch speed, and take pauses

Listening policies:

  • don’t enter or exit the room when someone is giving a speech
  • give your full attention to speaker
  • do not put head down, and no sleeping
  • do not talk
  • smile to the speaker
